For more than six decades, Bill Iles has explored the world through observation, imagination, and discovery. Working across a wide range of subjects and media—from landscapes and figures to drawing, collage, and abstraction—he seeks to capture the essential character of a place, object, or idea rather than simply reproduce its appearance.

His creative process draws on memory, sketches, photographs, and intuition, allowing each work to evolve through experimentation and discovery. The landscapes of Southwest Louisiana, with their forests, swamps, and waterways, have become an enduring source of inspiration, while his drawings and mixed-media works offer opportunities for storytelling, humor, and reflection.

Throughout his career, Iles has sought to reveal beauty, meaning, and unexpected connections in the familiar and overlooked, inviting viewers to see the world from a different perspective.
